Dried slowly inside the cherry, this natural Typica Mejorado highlights juicy berry notes, bright citrus, and deep chocolate sweetness. Produced by award-winning grower Juan Peña, this lot reflects a careful, data-informed approach to farming while letting the character of Yacuri’s landscape shine through.

Only fully ripe cherries are handpicked, rinsed, and then dried whole on raised beds and in solar-controlled rooms for 20–30 days. Temperature, airflow, and humidity are closely monitored throughout the process to ensure even drying and clarity of flavor. In the cup, expect berry and sweet citrus (grapefruit, orange), layered with chocolate and a sugary, juice-like sweetness. The body is medium and rounded, with bright but balanced acidity and a clean finish.

about this farm

Yacuri Farm

Yacuri sits between the Andes and the edge of the Amazon basin in southern Ecuador, at 1,300–1,800 meters above sea level. Located within the Podocarpus–El Cóndor Biosphere Reserve, the farm benefits from pristine water, rich biodiversity, and mineral-dense soils. This unique meeting point of ecosystems brings both structure and aromatic lift to the coffee, cocoa depth from the mountains, and brightness and florals from the surrounding rainforest climate.

With consistent equatorial daylight and a humid but balanced environment, cherries ripen slowly and evenly. Clay loam soils and natural spring irrigation help maintain plant health and bean density, contributing to the coffee’s sweetness and clarity. Yacuri coffees are known for their harmony, offering a vibrant and smooth expression of Ecuador’s diverse terroir.
